Effective Feature templates for SAFe

Features are the key vehicles for value flow in SAFe, but many of us could use some help in effectively defining them. Indian software developer EdgeVerve changes culture, expedites releases by 50 – 66% with SAFe

Focused on providing even greater value to their customers—banks across 94 countries serving 848 million customers—EdgeVerve turned to SAFe to improve time-to-market, quality, flexibility, and predictability. In less than two years, they have seen dramatic results: 

  • Release Time - Improved by 50 – 66% 
  • Predictability - Sharpened by planning every 10 weeks
  • Feature cycle time - Decreased by 50 percent 
  • Cost per feature point - Dropped by 8 percent from one PI to the next 



SAFe initiative gains altitude at Air France - KLM

A small group of change agents worked with leadership to drive fundamental changes across a massively complex organizational environment, involving no less than five airlines, eleven business domains, and diverse cultures at French and Dutch offices. Results included:

  • Code release - Released 17 times in the live environment in seven months compared to every six months previously; SAFe teams released 20 percent more effectively than waterfall teams, on average
  • Market share - Company gained 20 percent share in the small and medium logistics market alone; on one offering, the company exceeded expectations by 25%
  • Customer intimacy - Increased for Air France - KLM
